The Halloween Tree (book review)

The Halloween Tree, by Ray Bradbury, is a book about eight boys who, with help from a sinister man, embark on a fantastical journey through time and space to save their friend. They meet witches, mummies, gargoyles, and more as they search for the lost boy. Each boy is dressed in a different costume, and the boys visit the places and times where that "costume" was important (ancient Egypt and mummies, for example). The book sort of tells about how Halloween came to be.

I enjoyed the story and loved the author's way of writing! I can't wait to read more of his books!

I give this book a 9 out of 10 stars.

In other book news:
We went to Borders and I got three new books last night! Thanks to Jean, Mom bought me The Historian. Mom and Dad also bought Air Raid- Pearl Harbor! The Story of December 7, 1941 for me, and I bought Vampirates: Demons of the Ocean, which I'm reading right now.

I LOVED The Historian! That's so cool that you're reading it. It's an amazing book. Hope you enjoy it.

I can't wait to jump into The Halloween Tree. I'm waiting for my copy to arrive from Amazon. Hoping it gets here in time to read on Halloween night. Your mom talked me into buying it ;) Great review!

This book sounds SO good! I've been looking for it ever since your mom mentioned it, but no luck so far. I'd have to order it online, so I doubt it'd be here in time for RIP, but I think I'll go ahead and do it anyway. This is something I really want to read, even if not for the challenge.

You're absolutely right about the way Ray Bradbury writes. I'm currently reading "From the Dust Returned", and the beauty of his prose never cases to amaze me.

If you like Bradbury, have you read Fahrenheit 451? If not, it's a must-read. And I really hope you like The Historian as much as I did. It was one of those books that I did not want to put down. A very compelling story ... well, stories, and very well written, too.
