I DID IT!!!

I'm so excited that I finished NaNoWriMo! I'm so glad I decided to try. There were times when I was worried that I wouldn't make it. But now I'm definitely doing it next year!

Thanks, Jean, for all of your support and encouragement! I don't think I could have done it without you!

Obviously, I need to do a lot of editing to whip my story into shape, but I'm going to paste my prologue here, since no one could get to my site:

Winged Wolf’s Cry

Prologue

In a land far away, past rolling hills and dense forests, a winged wolf stood on a ragged cliff. His searching eyes scanned the horizon worriedly. “Talia,” he muttered to himself, “where are you?”

He had been waiting for days, standing there, yearning for that flashing smile and those gleaming eyes. But it never came.

“You never should have let her go alone!” he silently cursed himself. “She never could have made it.”

He remembered all too well those dark pits of torture, where the Enemy captured winged wolves and took them, where his Daemons tortured them until they could stand it no longer…

He could stand it no longer. He howled out loud. The piercing cry echoed off of the cliffs and the caves around him.

“Jalon, you know where you have to go,” the wolf told himself, “before it’s too late…”

Well...at least I can say, "I knew her when...."!! I think you have accomplished a remarkable feat for one so young!! And from just the first few paragraphs, I can tell it's going to be great!!

When you have your book signings, let me know!!

I am so proud of you Annie!! I'm not going to say I'm surprised, because I'm totally not, I knew you'd do it when you signed up for it, but that is such a huge achievement. Congrats! I LOVE your prologue...it kinda makes me not want to show my stuff to anyone :p lol!

It was grueling at times, huh? There were days that I just wanted to throw in the towel, but I'm glad I didn't! It's such a great feeling to have a novel written isn't it? I can't imagine having accomplished that at 10 years old. That's just amazing...simply amazing! I'd say you deserve something for that...like a trip to the bookstore ;) ahem...Debi!!!!

Your prologue makes me yearn to read the rest! You write wonderfully, stirring many emotions with but a few words. If you decide you want to write as a profession, I know you will be successful. If you decide to do something else, being able to write well helps in almost any job. I can't wait to say (along with Stephanie) that I knew you when...

This morning I mailed you a little NaNo treat and a couple of small rewards; they're enclosed in a box along with some Christmas presents.

And as much as I encouraged you, you were an inspiration to me, too. There was no way I could give up after talking you into doing it, too.

I will be smiling the rest of the day, I think, because of this!

Congratulations, Annie! Like everyone else said, the prologue makes me want to read the rest of your story. You are a talented writer. I have a feeling that in some years we will be reviewing your books in our blogs and telling everyone proudly that we knew you when you were 10 :P

Wow! Fantastic prologue! You have me intrigued!

I am so proud of you for taking on this challenge. Even more proud of you for finishing it. Tackling something like that and completing should let you know that you truly can do anything you set your mind to. It takes alot of courage to set out on that kind of journey. I'm very happy for you!
